61st Street Farmers Market: Saturdays, 9AM-2PM thru October
The 61st Street Farmers Market continues to grow and ripen with the season!
This Saturday, RAIN OR SHINE, you can expect Mint Creek Farm (organically raised lamb, eggs, greens), Growing Power (fresh organic produce), Windy City Harvest (fresh organic produce), Bruno's Organics (organic meats, bakery items, eggs, Amish cheese—also, check out their herd shares for purchasing raw milk), Tomato Mountain (organic tomato products), Brett Stamper Cheese Company (a variety of locally produced cheeses), Medici Bakery (breads, croissants, pastries), Abbey Brown Soaps (a variety of hand-made olive oil soaps), Bleeding Heart Bakery (organic pastries and breads), and Hillside Orchards (raspberries, blueberries, cherries, peaches, apricots, and apples).
Saturday August 2 highlights at the market:
From 8:30-9:30am, we will be holding a volunteer orientation for those of you interested in helping out with the market in the future.
At 11am, personal chef Sam Kass will be demonstrating the preparation of a lamb and vegetable dish using ingredients from the market. Take a look at Sam's beautiful and enticing website at www.inevitabletable.com.
From 12-1pm, Jeff Solotoroff from the Chicago Storytellers Guild will be telling stories for families in the Market School tent.
We urge you to bring a friend to the market next week! Building the community of support for this market will help the market grow and posper. We'd like to have TWICE the number of vendors next year. This is possible if we continue to build on the solid level of participation we've had so far.
Do you have ideas for the market? Drop them in the suggestion box at next week's market.
