Check Out Selections from AREA Chicago's Upcoming Tenth Issue

AREA Chicago, the local journal of arts and activism of which the Experimental Station is a sponsor, recently released selections from their upcoming tenth issue, on the theme of Institutions and Infrastructur: read Kari Lydersen on the incredible history of Pilsen bar and social center Decima Musa and a proposal from local organizers for a citywide Cultural and Community Center, and check out a gallery of illustrations of Chicago community institutions by Sarah Smizz.

Interested in writing for AREA? Submit proposals for pieces on to AREA Editors (areaeditors (at) gmail (dot) com) by June 1st. Proposals should focus on the issue's central questions: What infrastructures and institutions from the past do we need to remember, what institutions and infrastructures from the present do we need to maintain or rethink, and how can we or are we critically creating the new ones to support our work? Earlier proposals will be considered on a rolling basis for earlier online publication.
