Blackstone Bikes will host 2 free summer programs from July 9-August 24, 2019 for rising 4th graders through high school students.  All programs are free and participants will be served breakfast and lunch. In order to participant all applicants need to complete an online application by June 22nd.

Programs take place at Blackstone Bicycle Works 6100 S Blackstone Ave from 9:30a-3:00p.  Space is limited, apply early.

Bike Camp
Fridays
July 12—August 23
9:30am-3pm

Bike Camp Fridays are for rising 4th through 8th graders. Activities include bike safety, bike games, intro to mechanics & business skills, and bike trips.  Program runs over the course of 6 Fridays, participation every Friday is highly recommended as participants build upon skills from previous weeks.

Knowing how to ride a bike confidently without training wheels is required for this program.  

A bike and helmet required for participation.  A limited number of loaner bikes and helmets are available. Helmets may also be purchased in the shop, sliding scale $10-20.

Blackstone Teens

Blackstone Bicycle Works’ summer teen program exposes youth to cycling culture, bike mechanics, and job skills. Through hands on bike mechanics, bike trips, and supporting shop operations, teens become immersed in an inclusive bike community and shop. Daily activities also include an opportunity to build your own bike, field trips, college/academic advising, art making, and STEM workshops.

Teen Application Process

Due to limited space, an interview is required for the teen program. Applications will be reviewed on a first come, first serve basis.

  2. Schedule sit down interview with the Youth Service Coordinator (Deadline June 22)

  3. Roster selected, and participants notified of status (June 22)

  4. Orientation (July 2 & 3)
