Blackstone Bicycle Works Pop-up Shop Opening & Reception
Wednesday, May 22nd, 5-8PM
(The pop-up will have additional open hours Fridays from 4-6PM on 5/24, 5/31, 6/7, and 6/14)
All are welcome!

Please join us for the Grand Opening of the Blackstone Bicycle Works pop-up shop featuring bike-themed merchandise , including t-shirts, buttons, water bottles, tote bags, and journals designed by youth from the bike shop. For the past 10 weeks, teaching artists Concitta Cavin and Michelle E.L. Merritt have engaged 10-15 youth from the bike shop in developing business skills and creating products to sell and exhibit that visually reflect our unique cycling culture.

This project is the third annual Bike Shop art show and we are thrilled about expanding to include a pop-up shop, thanks to the  generosity and support of South Side In Focus

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers Gabe Barron, Annesya Gaille, Sarah Fineman, and Maya Osman-Krinsky for their participation and facilitation in the weekly workshop. Our former lead teaching artist, Tita Thomas, for all she invested in this program;. LeShawn Cox for making shirts with us; and Ayo Merch, Joseph Harris and Gloria I. Rivera for their support as visiting guest artists. We also want to honor our bike shop elder, artist and tinkerer, Tommie Hollins.

Lastly, thank you to Busy Beaver Button Company for generously donating a button maker and AW Specialty Papers (Elk Grove) for donating heat-transfer sheets.
