Link Up Illinois is offering free SNAP consulting to Illinois farmers markets seeking to implement new EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) systems to accept SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Illinois 'Link') benefits, or to improve a currently existing EBT program. We will provide guidance on the SNAP authorization process, equipment acquisition, processing fees, at-market implementation, data collection and SNAP administration.
Since 2010, the Experimental Station has provided EBT service for the City of Chicago farmers markets, as well as the Experimental Station's 61st Street Farmers Market. Since 2011, the Experimental Station has provided EBT consulting and training in best practices to many farmers markets throughout Illinois.
