Bread Bake

  • Experimental Station 6100 South Blackstone Avenue Chicago, IL, 60637 United States (map)

Hello bakers and baker wannabes!

Now that the weather is cooling and a warm kitchen feels good again, it's time once again to fire up the Experimental Station's wood-fired oven for some bread baking and pre-holidays camaraderie. We will be baking on SundayNovember 17, from 3-8pm and hope that you will be able to join us. When you arrive, please enter through the garden patio off of 61st Street.

If you are new to a bread bake, bread bakes work best if you bring your dough already mixed up and in the rising state. The oven will be hottest at the start of the bake. So if you want to bake pizzas or other flat breads, plan to come early in the bake. Rising breads are best to bake mid-bake when the oven has cooled a bit, while breads with lots of sugar or butter will go in toward the end.

These are family-friendly events, and children are welcome. As always, bringing something extra to share with the group is a virtue that will not go unappreciated!

Hope to see you there!

Connie
